Enter Hugo Cabret!<\/strong> Today we learn Hugo’s job: keeping the station clocks running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TinkerCAD Hotkeys for today:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • W:<\/strong> (Press W) to turn your mouse into a magic floor-placer (The Workplane tool)!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Shift+Right-Click:<\/strong> To move your entire camera in a straight line instead of spinning it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A:<\/strong> (Hold A and click a shape) to zoom into it and see the details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ctrl+X and Ctrl+V:<\/strong> (Cut and Paste) to move shapes between different models!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Step-by-Step Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. The Clock Face:<\/strong> Drag a Cylinder onto the floor. Squash it down so it is flat like a pancake (about 3mm high). Make it nice and wide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Get the Workplane Tool:<\/strong> (Press W<\/strong> on your keyboard).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Drop it on top:<\/strong> Click exactly<\/em> on the flat top of your clock face. The floor should turn orange!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Add your numbers:<\/strong> Now, drag the numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9 from the basic shapes library. Because of your new orange floor, they will sit perfectly on top of the clock!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Don’t forget to check all your numbers are the same size<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        We can now use the align tool to ensure all objects are lined up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Select two objects and then click align:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Before:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        First click the first object then hold shift and click the second object.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Then click align<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

        Finally click on the dot showing where you want it lined up<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        After it should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        If you’ve done this can you now add the increments for the remaining hours using the box tool<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        When you are finished don’t forget to group the items<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        When you are finished add your name as a hole pushed gently into the clock face so it doesn\u2019t get in the way of the mechanism. It will need to be small and not stick out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        There is also a small space at the top to add decoration if you want to – again it must be pressed into the design and mustn’t be in the middle<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Reset: Press W again and click anywhere in the empty blue space to turn the floor blue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
